Ford Graduate Programme 2018: Ford Jobs / FMCSA Vacancies

Let’s be honest—landing a spot in the Ford Graduate Programme 2018 wasn’t just another line on a CV. For the lucky few who made the cut, it was a foot in the door at one of South Africa’s most storied automotive giants, a chance to trade lecture halls for real-world hustle. If you’re curious about similar opportunities, check out the Nissan Graduate Programme for another great way to kickstart your career in the auto industry. Ford wasn’t picky about where you came from—Engineering, Finance, Marketing, even the odd wildcard discipline—if you had the drive (and the grades), they wanted to see what you could do.

Here’s the deal: over 12 to 24 months, participants didn’t just shadow executives or fetch coffee. They rolled up their sleeves, tackled actual projects, and—crucially—learned what it *really* takes to thrive in a company that’s been shaping the auto industry for over a century. Sure, there were no golden tickets guaranteeing a permanent job at the end, but let’s not sugarcoat it—this was the kind of exposure that could fast-track a career. Alumni walked away with skills, connections, and a fighting chance at snagging roles as they opened up. And in an industry where experience often trumps everything else, that’s not nothing.

Requirements

This opportunity is exclusively available to engineering graduates who have achieved a pass rate of 65% or higher. Only fully qualified candidates with completed degrees are eligible—this is not an internship, and no exceptions will be made. Applicants must ensure their qualifications meet the specified criteria before proceeding with their application, as incomplete or ineligible submissions will not be considered.

Port Elizabeth and Pretoria are currently seeking skilled graduates across multiple engineering disciplines. However, a critical requirement applies to all applicants: the subject line of your email must exactly reference one of the designated locations. For Port Elizabeth (FSA PE), eligible roles include Graduate Engineering in Mechanical/Mechatronics, Electrical/Light Current, and Industrial. Meanwhile, Pretoria (FSA PTA) offers opportunities in Mechanical/Mechatronics, Electrical/Light Current, Chemical, and Industrial Engineering, while Pretoria (FSA 04) focuses on Industrial (Product Development) and Mechanical/Mechatronics. Non-engineering roles, such as Graduate Human Resources (FSA 03), Finance/Management Accounting/Economics (FSA 02), and Marketing (FSA 01), are also available but require matching subject lines accordingly.

Attaching large files to your application is unnecessary and impractical—any attachments exceeding 1MB will be discarded without review. This policy ensures efficiency in processing a high volume of submissions while maintaining clarity and focus on the core qualifications. Candidates are advised to keep their applications concise and well-organized to maximize their chances of consideration.

Given the overwhelming number of applications received annually, the selection process operates on a strict timeline. Rejected candidates will not receive personal notifications—silence is the standard response. If you have not heard back by April 30, assume your application was not successful. The deadline for submissions is fixed at 9 April 2018, with no extensions or exceptions granted under any circumstances.

In practice, this opportunity demands precision and adherence to guidelines. By meeting the eligibility criteria, formatting your email subject line correctly, and submitting a streamlined application, qualified candidates can position themselves for consideration in these competitive roles. For those interested in graduate internships, ensure you meet all specified requirements.

  1. Well, it is a good thing to see FMCSA is attempting to provide additional regulations to address the outlaw brokers. If many of you want additional measures in place make sure you comment during the NPRM Comment Period once it announced. Even a simple statement of support for what FMCSA announces. Just make sure you voice your opinion or additional suggestions during the comment period and to the FMCSA via their website for making comments. Because I can guarantee you that every broker out there will voice their opinion against such regulation. Report
