The Western Cape Government (WCG) Department of Infrastructure is inviting suitable qualified applicants residing in the Cape Metro Region to apply for Trade Learnerships training opportunities in the construction industry.
The learnership programme entails:
- Undergoing theoretical and practical training at a public or private TVET College.
- Working on a building site
- Apply health and Saftey Regulations
- Maintaining Work Areas
- Undertaking administrative tasks
The training opportunities are for the following:
- Welding
- Bricklaying
- Carpentry
- Plumbing
Minimum Requirements:
- Welding– Grade 11 or TVET equivalent with a pass in Mathematical Literacy. Preference will be given to applicants who completed welding NQF L3
- Bricklaying – Grade 10 or TVET equivalent with a pass in Mathematical Literacy
- Carpentry – Grade 10 or TVET equivalent with a pass in Mathematical Literacy
- Plumbing – Grade 11 or TVET equivalent with a pass in Mathematical Literacy
Other Requirements:
- Applicants must enjoy good health and be willing to undergo a medical substance abuse examination
- Successful applicants will be required to work on a construction site as part of the learnership training
- Successful applicants must be willing to travel and work at various building sites across the Western Cape
- Successful applicants will be required to sign a 12-month Learnerships Agreement
Stipend: R2 500 per month for the duration of the Learnership Agreement
- Applicants can use facilities at a local library, Thusong Centre, E-Centre Youth Cafe or Internet Cafe to register on the SA Youth.Mobi platform
- Shortlisted candidates will be requested to upload certified copies of ID and highest educations certificate on the SAYouth.Mobi when requested by the Department of Infrastructure
