Dept of Defence: Youth Traineeship Programme

– Aged 18 to 22, completed Grade 12
– Up to 25 with a three-year tertiary qualification
– Demonstrate leadership potential
– No area restrictions
– No criminal record

SA Navy Traineeship Programme

The two-year voluntary service system demands a commitment to military and functional training.

First-year recruits focus on fields like Combat Operators, Support Services, or Submarine Operations. The second year brings deployment and skill development opportunities. Applicants must be:

– South African citizens aged 18 to 22
– Currently in Grade 12 or completed
– Preferably single
– No area restrictions
– Engineering and Technical applicants need Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science (Level 3 or higher)
– Graduates aged 18 to 26 require a Degree, National Diploma, or N6 with Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical, Marine, or Electrical Engineering

SA Army Air Force Traineeship Programme

This two-year voluntary service offers military and functional training in various fields. Recruits adapt to military life and can extend their contract based on performance. Those not extending serve part-time in the Reserve Force. Eligibility includes:

– Commercial Pilots Licence holders under 26 with 300 flying hours
– Graduates up to 26 with Level 4 Maths and Science
– Aged 18–24 with Grade 12 or Equivalent, Level 4 Maths and Science, and English
– Unmarried, no area restrictions, no serious criminal record
– Meeting medical and prescribed SANDF requirements

– Emergency Care Technician Programme: Grade 12, Level 4 in English, Mathematics, Life Science, and Physical Science
