The Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invite applications for a bursary under the DST-CSIR Inter-Bursary Support Programme (IBS) grant scheme.

Who should apply?

The IBS postgraduate bursary 2018 is intended for full-time studies for Honours, Masters or PhD degrees at any South African public university. Students who intend to register for theft fourth year in Engineering or BTech degrees will also be considered.

THE FOCUS AREAS FOR THE BURSARY SUPPORT ARE RESTRICTED TO THE FOLLOWING RESEARCH AREAS:

  • Aerospace
  • Composites
  • Modelling and Digital Sciences
  • Microsystems Technology
  • Titanium (Manufacturing Elemenents)
  • Photonics
  • Information and Communications Technology
  • Biotechnology: Biopharming, Bioprocessing & Biocatalysis

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHOSE STUDY AREAS ARE ALIGNED WITH THE ABOVE-MENTIONED PRIORITY RESEARCH AREAS.

  • MASTERS R90 000
  • PhD R120 000

The application forms and guidelines are attached to this call. Please complete the application forms and send the completed document (preferably pdf format) with any additional attachments by email to [email protected]. Applications must include endorsement and motivation by the nominated supervisor for masters and doctoral students, or postgraduate office in the case of Honours/BTech/fourth year Engineering students.Feedback will ONLY be sent to successful applicants within two months after the closing date of the applications.
